ISI Ski is an offer for those who want to add a combination sport to their main sport. Either because your main sport is seasonal, or simply because you love skiing.
You can nurture your passion for skiing, or choose to become a ski instructor by completing the Danish Ski School’s Club Instructor qualification. This will give you a foundation for teaching skiing in Norway and in some parts of Austria. As part of the training you will also get the chance to teach skiing and run skiing activities during the school’s annual ski trip, which is open to all students.
At ISI Ski we explore the exciting area between technique, nature and culture, and the tuition is spread over the areas of physical training, ski theory and ski specific training.
We teach all aspects of skiing and ISI Ski is aimed at both beginners and advanced skiers.
In Denmark, you will receive both practical and theoretical training in skiing techniques, mountain knowledge, snow conditions and avalanches. We shift the focus to Barmark training, which is the physical training required for skiing. This training is supplemented by running, mountain biking, gymnastics and springboard diving.
In the snow and on the mountain you will receive instruction in alpine skiing. We challenge you in terms of speed, change of terrain and slope steepness. We furthermore work with themes: gates, moguls, off-piste, powder, jumps and half-pipe. We explore the tracks and the optimal line through the gates, the speed from the moguls, dance and flow from the powder and air-awareness from the jumps and the half-pipe.
Students are divided according to level, and you will be taught in homogeneous groups. We use daily video analysis to strengthen the visual feedback.
Four weeks of the ISI Ski course is spent on skiing trips. Two consecutive weeks before Christmas, and two weeks after Christmas, one of which is open to all students at the folk high school.
There are additional charges in connection with all skiing trips.
If you are interested in becoming a fully qualified ski instructor you can take part in the Danish Ski School’s Basic Ski Instructor course in Austria during week 18.
